As a customer you benefit from the complete processing in the house by shorter distances, a shorter time and thus lower costs.

Surface technologies

The anodization is the possibility for the controlled generation of a protective layer. This protective layer is made possible by anodic oxidation.

The hard anodizing is an electrolytic oxidation of aluminum materials to create protective coatings on the surface.

Chromating denotes a group of surface engineering methods. Chromic acid salts (chromates) are formed on metallic surfaces by the action of chromic acid.

Passivating is the spontaneous formation or targeted generation of a protective layer on a metallic material, which prevents or greatly reduces the corrosion of the base material.

Black oxidation is a finishing process that serves to form a weak protective layer on mostly ferrous surfaces to reduce corrosion.

By galvanizing, steel is provided with a thin layer of zinc to protect it from corrosion.

By varnishing, a liquid or powdered coating material is applied thinly to objects and built up by chemical or physical processes to form a continuous, solid film.

The powder coating process or powder painting is a coating process in which an electrically conductive material is coated with powder varnish.

Anodizing

The anodization is the possibility for the controlled generation of a protective layer. This protective layer is made possible by anodic oxidation. In this case, the uppermost aluminum layer of the part to be anodized is converted and an oxide is formed.

Advantages:

  • Dimensionally stable
  • Firm connection with base metal thus very good adhesion
  • Good corrosion resistance
  • Decorative by metallic appearance and colorability (in our production facilities we use black, blue and red as standard colors)
  • Mechanical strength through hardness and abrasion resistance
  • Isolator effective
  • Toxic harmless

Disadvantages:

  • No longer deformable after anodization
  • Polished surfaces do not have any reflection after oxidation
  • Material defects or strand traces from the material production are made visible by anodizing
  • Base material: Aluminum
  • Layer thickness: between 5μm and 25μm
  • Color: natural, black, blue, red, violet, gold yellow, turquoise, gray
  • Hardness: depending on alloy 200-400 HV
  • Dimensions: up to 1,750 x 990 x 300mm (natural, black, blue, red)
  • Dimensions: up to 200 x 200 x 700 mm (violet, gold yellow, turquoise, gray)

Hard anodizing

Advantages:

  • High hardness
  • Very good abrasion and wear resistance
  • Sliding ability (in the house, the possibility exists by retrofitting
    PTFE storage additionally increase the lubricity)
  • Electrical breakdown strength
  • High corrosion protection

Disadvantages:

  • For decorative purposes
  • Not possible / very difficult to color
  • Base material: Aluminum
  • Layer thickness: between 25μm and 60μm possible
  • Color: Brown over dark brown to gray (depending on the alloy)
  • Hardness: up to 700HV
  • Dimensions: up to 1,750 x 990 x 300mm

Chromating

Advantages:

  • Used as an adhesive for paints and varnishes
  • Prevents unwanted corrosion under the paint
  • Protection against corrosion
  • Decorative

Disadvantages:

  • Not RoHS compliant since the layer contains Cr-VI
  • Provides no protection against severe mechanical stress
  • Base material: Aluminum
  • Layer thickness: approx. 1 μm
  • Color: light yellow to golden yellow iridescent
  • Dimensions: up to 1,750 x 990 x 300mm

Advantages:

  • The corrosion protection of the bronze layer is low
  • Base material: Steel up to 12% nickel / chromium

  • Color: brown to dark blue to black
  • Dimensions: up to 1,080 x 700 x 350mm

Galvanizing

Galvanizing

with subsequent chromating or passivation

Advantages:

  • Very good corrosion protection
  • Also for decorative purposes due to metallic luster
  • Coloring can be achieved by subsequent chromating
    or passivation can be varied from silver to yellow.
  • Convenient corrosion protection compared to other methods such as e.g. nickel-plate

Disadvantages:

  • Not all passivation / chromating are RoHS compliant
  • Weld seams that are not 100% dense often cause efflorescence (salt formation)

Hydrogen embrittlement can not generally be avoided during galvanic galvanizing.

Particularly low-alloyed, highly-tempered steels with tensile strength > 1,000 are particularly vulnerable

  • Layer thickness: from 5μm to 25μm
  • Color: silver, yellow iridescent or black
  • Dimensions: up to 2,500 x 1,200 x 500mm

  • Weight: up to 2t per carrier

  • Layer thickness: according to customer requirements
  • Color: according to customer requirements, open to all possibilities
  • Dimensions: up to 8,000 x 4,000 x 4,000mm
  • Weight: up to 2t per carrier
  • Temperature: up to 220°C at most
